Study in Germany
Germany is a major European destination, particularly strong in engineering, technology, research, business and applied sciences. Public institutions may have low or no tuition in many cases, but semester contributions and living costs apply.
Visa process
National Student Visa. Secure admission, arrange financial proof, obtain APS where applicable, apply through the competent German mission and complete residence formalities after arrival.
Government / visa fees - subject to change
National long-stay visa: generally €75. Residence-permit and other local charges may apply.
Financial requirement
Students normally need accepted proof of financial resources for living costs; an appropriate blocked-account arrangement is one commonly used method.
Student rules & regulations
Maintain enrolment and valid residence status, health insurance and financial arrangements. Follow employment restrictions and local registration requirements.
Work rights during study
Third-country students can generally work up to 140 full days or 280 half-days per year under current rules.
After study
Eligible graduates can generally receive a residence permit for up to 18 months to seek qualified employment after completing studies.
PR / settlement options
Qualified employment may lead to a work residence permit or EU Blue Card where eligible, and potentially permanent settlement after meeting the applicable requirements.
